Botanicals
My botanical work begins in the garden, where I spend hours tending to the flowers that I grow from seeds, observing how they develop and how the changing light alters their colour, texture, and mood. I observe them with the same eye that I bring to portrait work - studying how light shapes beauty and reveals a quiet personality. In many ways I photograph flowers as I do people, Their gossamer petals move like fabric, their forms hold posture, and their tones respond to light in subtle, expressive ways. Capturing these qualities in flowers is the same when capturing them in any living being.
